This piece is part of our Deconstructed Embroidery practice - a contemporary approach we pioneered - and belongs to an ongoing series of works that move through stages: from wholeness, to fragmentation, to rebuilding. The pattern was once complete, then intentionally separated ; reflecting the map of Palestine: once whole, now fragmented.
This artwork represents the phase of rebuilding.
Stitches return into the open spaces, placed by the hands of women from refugee camps who work with our brand. Through their hands, connection begins again.
The tulle speaks of fragility.
The thread speaks of resilience.
Palestine is not yet restored; but its voice, like this embroidery, continues to be woven.
