Recently, our designer had the privilege of participating in a powerful panel at the Arab American Foundation conference, where Arab American women gathered to share their journeys within the U.S. It was a moment to celebrate resilience, confront challenges, and honor victories, bridging personal stories with a shared cultural identity. The experience reconnected her with her roots and ignited a sense of solidarity, especially during these difficult times as many in the diaspora grapple with loss and injustice in Gaza, Sudan, and Lebanon.
For our designer, art has long been more than a profession—it’s an act of resistance, resilience, and healing. Amid turmoil, her creations serve as a voice for those who may feel unseen, resisting erasure and celebrating identities that are often sidelined. Art becomes a path toward mutual understanding, offering a platform for others to feel empowered and inspired to share their stories too.
A critical theme she championed at the panel was the importance of institutional change. She called for more dedicated spaces in mainstream cultural institutions for Arab American women artists—not just in times of crisis, but as a foundational part of cultural discourse. These spaces are essential for amplifying diverse voices and ensuring that Arab American artists are recognized and valued year-round.
The experience was not just about sharing but also about connecting with remarkable leaders and colleagues, each dedicated to making an impact. Together, they envisioned a future where Arab American women stand united as creators, advocates, and changemakers, claiming space in the narrative of a more inclusive and resilient world.
As our designer so eloquently expressed, “By standing together, creating boldly, and advocating fiercely, we ensure that our voices resonate—not just today, but for generations to come.”
